Dr. El-Gizawy has been a distinguished professor with the University of Missouri, Washington University in St. Louis, King Abdul-Aziz University, and San Diego State University.

His research has focused on developing mechanistic-based models to make the essential predictions of quality and damage management for engineering products. He has developed digital technology approach (DTA), as part of strategy for robust product realization process for development of high quality and cost-effective precision products and medical devices. He has published more than hundred technical papers in the open literature. He has also given more than seventy technical presentations, seminars, and workshops in the United States, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. He is also a consultant for major industries in the USA and overseas.
